Get excited because this recipe is my ultimate healthy breakfast recipe! It's my superfood Bircher müsli mix! The recipe is just my basic recipe but i'll add different spices and fruits when I feel like it! Cinnamon and apples gives the basic recipe an extra added deliciousness.
Back in 1879 Maximilian Oskar Bircher Benny invented the first recipe for Bircher müsli - he was a pioneer in nutrition and health. Now it's 2017 and I thought I'd give the original recipe a make-over! I've taken out the oats and cows milk and replaced it with super foods such as flax seeds, cacao nibs, pumpkin seeds and more!
Enjoy this müsli as a topping on your smoothie bowl or soak it in a plant-based milk overnight for a delicious and nutritious breakfast! It's super filling and it's packed with vitamins, healthy fats, minerals and protein.
This Bircher also has a "cleansing" effect because it helps detoxify esses salt in your body. It stabilises your blood sugar and keeps you satisfied for hours.
1 dl Sesame seeds
1 dl Sunflower seeds
1 dl Pumpkind seeds
1 dl Flax seeds
1 dl Cacao nibs
1 dl Chia seeds
1 dl Raisins or cranberries
1 dl Puffed quinoa
1 dl Coconut shreds
1 dl activated (soaked over night) buckwheats
10 Chopped dried abricots
Simply add all the ingredients in a bowl and mix it well. Keep it in a jar, dry or in the fridge! For overnight Bircher just add a portion of the Bircher mix, cover it with a plant-based milk of your choice, add whatever spices you'd like, leave it in the fridge overnight and enjoy it in the morning!
I love my overnight Bircher with coconut milk or rice milk topped with frozen blueberries
